Stage 1: establish the project brief and investigation questions

A professional report should distinguish observed facts from engineering interpretation and identify limitations. Where additional information is required, it should explain why rather than implying every site needs the same suite of tests.

Investigation timing depends on site access, booking availability, project complexity, drilling method, weather, utility clearances, laboratory testing and the completeness of the supplied drawings. Larger or constrained sites can require additional coordination.
