Site-specific slope and hillside development assessments
The effect of a proposed dwelling, excavation, retaining structure or change in drainage depends on the slope geometry and the ground model. Relevant observations can include existing cuts, placed fill, surface erosion, seepage, cracking, neighbouring development and signs of previous movement.
Sloping land occurs in parts of the Blue Mountains, Northern Beaches, North Shore, Sutherland Shire and Illawarra escarpment. A location or steep appearance does not by itself establish instability: assessment should consider the actual site, proposal and available evidence.
